Arsenal midfielder Declan Rice expressed his great happiness after his team's historic qualification to the Champions League semi-finals, following a 2-1 victory over Real Madrid in the second leg of the quarter-finals, securing the Gunners a 5-1 aggregate victory.
Rice said: "It's a very special night for us, a truly historic night. We had a clear objective in this competition, which was to go far and win it, and we are working hard to achieve that."
He added: "We came to Madrid with great belief that we could win. We were completely confident that we could put in a strong performance and snatch the qualification ticket from a difficult stadium, and we translated that belief into reality. What a great night for this team."
He continued: "Since joining Arsenal, I have felt that this team is on the rise. We are performing excellently in the Champions League and we have complete confidence in the manager. What he is doing is incredible, and qualifying for the semi-finals is a huge achievement for us."
Regarding the controversy surrounding Real Madrid's penalty claim, Rice explained: "I knew it wasn't a penalty. Yes, I was putting pressure on Kylian Mbappé, but in a legitimate way. I'm an honest man, and I didn't make any mistakes."
He concluded his statements by talking about the upcoming match against Paris Saint-Germain, saying: "They are a very strong team, and we've played against them before, but now they're completely different. We know the challenge ahead of us and we'll be ready for it."
